Thankful

I can't believe it's already December. What an amazing time of year. I love the Christmas season and I love that this season begins with Thanksgiving. I love that we have a day of thanks that reminds us to count our blessings and then we start into Christmas and it seems that the whole world is different. It really is the most wonderful time of the year! I really have too many blessings to count. The biggest thing I have to be thankful for this year is Mike. He'd be embarrassed if he knew I was writting this and because I know he doesn't read it anyway here it goes. I'm thankful for May 30th- the day Mike's heart stopped, and mine. My life hasn't been the same since that day and will never be the same again. The more I think about this day the more things I realize I'm grateful for. I feel like I'm a lot more laid back and can really let things go. If the dished sit in the sink for 2 days, big deal! They will most definitely be there the next day or even the next. Our time really is short so why spend it worrying about things that don't really matter. People always say that but until I experienced it I don't think I really believed it. I'm thankful for modern medicine and technology. I'm thankful for Doctors. I'm thankful for prayer. I knew that the only thing I could really do during that time was pray and pray that what needed to happen would. It did. I know that the Lord knows I can't live without Mike. Chalk it up this is number three for Mike's life being spared. I'd say there's probably a real good reason he's still here. I learn so much from him everyday and he really is my best friend. When they tell you to "marry up," I always knew someone had to get the short end of that stick and it definitely wasn't me. I'm happy as long as Mike's by my side. I'm thankful for May 30th. I'm thankful for Mike and Mike's heart! I'm thankful for loving family and friends who stuck by our side through it all. And lets be honest, without Mike I wouldn't have had these five amazing years and two sweet children.
Now for the part you've all been waiting for, pictures!
We spent Thanksgiving in Orlando. We figured we would switch it up a bit and have a Thanksgiving we'd never forget. We went out to eat which was actually really nice, no cooking and no clean-up! I wouldn't do it every year but it was a fun change. We skipped the after dinner nap and headed for Blizzard Beach and spent the rest of the day there. We visited Bass Pro Shop so Kade could sit on Santa's lap but I think secretly Mike loved it more than Kade. I think it's his favorite store, it reminds him of his fishing days. The picture of Mike with the stroller is proof that it can snow in southern Florida! You can't see it very well but it's there. We went to "Christmas on Las Olas," they had snow makers on top of the buildings. It was great to see the people everywhere taking pictures like they had never seen snow before. So we joined in the picture taking.
I can't believe this year flew by so fast. Friday the kids and I are headed for Kansas! Mike will finish up finals and head out the next week! So it's goodbye for now! We wish you all a Merry Christmas.

You're so right - that Mike's a great guy. I've even gone home a few times and been like, wow, Ryan, Mike said this to Brittany, or does this...HINT HINT! Three times, huh? Lucky wife that gets a guy who lives on the edge! (Um yeah, I would be afraid to let him out of my sight!)

And wow, that Bree looks so different in these pictures - I swear I've still hardly seen her with her eyes open!!
