First things first. I was working on a project & wasn't quite finished when the Olympics ended so I kept the TV on and was listening to the news. So this segment came on with a bunch of pole dancers wearing next to nothing saying how they think pole dancing should be an olympic sport! They went on to compare themselves to olympic athletes, very fit and in shape, they train hard and have routines...Are you kidding me? This is a joke right? Seriously, get a life! I'm such a jerk but it was really funny. They looked ridiculous and continued saying how they know it will be in the Olympics one day but it might be a long road getting to that point. All I have to say is please, don't tell people you are from the US when you ask them to add pole dancing to the next Olympic games! And if I have offended any of you who may be serious pole dance athletes, I'm sorry. I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking your "sport."
That's all I really have to say. The rest of this post is dedicated to Shane & Jake. The Olympics made me think about some of the best days of college life and it may get lengthy and boring for most of you. I was remembering all the amazing times we've had on the ski hill and had to write it down so I can remember it all again one day.
So in College both of my brothers and myself had the same major and same classes. We arranged our schedule so we had three days off and could ski at least three days a week. We lived off flash cards, we would study the entire way up (well, usually I slept) the mountain and back home so our day wasn't ALL play and no work. Occasionally we'd even pull the flash cards out on the lift. The three of us together is a BAD combination. We procrastinate and think of all the ways we can play together! Shane was always the brains for our crazy ideas and Jake & I just followed along 'cause it sounded fun! Remember when..
* We skied so late the day of the Sadie Hawkins dance that Mike called everyone, even Mom to see if they had heard from us. He thought we died. We had so much fun skiing we forgot about everything else. Oops that we didn't call anyone and let them know where we were. We made it home a half hour before the dance, threw ourselves together (mainly me) then went to the dance looking goofy but didn't care 'cause we spent the day in the snow!
* We had free tickets to one of several ski resorts. We debated about going to Whistler but skied Jackson Hole instead. What were we thinking?!
* We skied Jackson near the end of the season so there was patches of mud everywhere. Not sure why Mike didn't have his board on but when he stopped to put it on the board slipped away from him. I ended up chasing the board almost the entire way down the mountain just to make sure it wasn't going to take anyone out. It was FLYING and I eventually stopped & waited for Mike who had to walk to whole way down. I was super embarrassed but it was funny!
* Then later that same day, Shane, I think you skied too close to some man's girlfriend and he started chasing after us. He had lots of choice words to say to us, you laughed at him which made him even more angry we booked it away from him and kept laughing...Needless to say I'm glad it was free because Jackson wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Wrong side of the mountain.
* We had Sac all to ourselves because it was snowing/raining and was so cold no one wanted to ski that day. We got rained on coming down the mountain and the drops would freeze as we were on the lift back up.
* I think that was also the day we parked the car and hiked back up the road just so we could drop through the fresh powder and end up at the base of Sac. If I remember right, the snow was pretty sticky from the rain & Jake & I took forever to get to the bottom. Shane started building a jump at the base & because we were the only ones there we stayed at the bottom & jumped until we got sick of it, then went home.
* We went to the cliffs at the back of Sac & hucked ourselves. Shane went first, then me and we yelled at Jake to come down. For some reason he didn't want to. We sat and laughed at Jake cause there was no other way down. He had to jump and eventually did! We were so mean!
* We always skied the bowl just below Mary's so we could get as much powder as we could without hiking for an hour. We'd hit that hill (the one that I think is in Shane's music video) anyway, I biffed it before I went off the front and the way it turned out I flipped off the front. That was my accidental first front flip.
* Good times! We passed Anat & Phys and it's amazing we did because skiing was almost always our first priority. We had way too much fun in that class and how could we not when it was the three of us, Mike, Phoxay & Shellie. Wow, that makes me think of so many other good times.
* Me Shane & Mike snowmobiled in the fresh powder. It was so deep it was like we were swimming in snow, we could hardly see cause the powder was flying over our heads!
*And my favorite time snowmobiling was when we went to two top, we thought it would be the last time of the season. The sled broke down at the bottom of the hill. The best part was that the sled broke down Saturday so we couldn't make it back until Monday. It was starting to warm up & I swear the sun never stopped shinning for those three days and melted so much of the snow. We seriously debated just leaving the sled forever. We should have! Going back and getting the sled was the most torturous thing I think I have ever done! Don't they say, Arctic cat, always gets you there, never back. SO true that day.
I could go on forever. Wow, I love the snow. Thanks Shane & Jake (and Mike) for the great times!
I Still haven't figured out why I can't see my pictures after I upload them so let's hope the pictures match the description...
People watching together
Snoozin' together
Two peas in a pod. Bree thinks Kade is the funniest thing ever. Kade will walk over and say, "joke, Bree" and then they sit and laugh together. So Fun!
His new favorite thing is the stethoscope. He is about to push Bree over and he knows he shouldn't, hence the ear to ear grin.
When Mike is home she is in his arms and you can see how she feels about all that studying.
Starting to sit up
Not sure if he's crying because now there is no more chocolate milk or because he knows he's in trouble
I was getting ready & peeked out to see why they were being so quiet. I grabbed the camera, snapped the shot then asked Kade what he was doing..."Bree Baptized." Not quite, but it's funny anyway.
One of the few times I've ever seen Kade fall asleep out of exhaustion. He made a mess, was content & happy with it then fell asleep.
When I walked back by again he had fallen off the couch but was still sound asleep!
Look at this beauty! I used to buy one growing up around Christmas time & it always bloomed near Christmas day. I've been growing this thing for over a year now. It never had a flower the first time I forgot about it over Christmas break and it totally died. I know nothing about plants but I kept the bulb in the soil and kept watering it hoping something would happen. One day it sprouted and about a week later there was so much green! Then to my amazement the flower bloomed on Valentine's day! So sweet right! This beauty makes me smile. Mike was studying at the computer and I was talking to my sweet plant. I said "you are so beautiful!" Mike turned around to see who I was talking to and saw that it was my plant. He laughed and gave me the funniest look. I'm a dork! I've only ever seen one flower on any of my plants in the past and now there are three more flowers ready to bloom!
